Directed by William Wyler, The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress
depicts the 25th mission of the crew over Germany. Named for pilot Robert K.
Morgan's then Memphis girlfriend, the Memphis Belle was the first United States
Army Air Forces heavy bomber to complete 25 combat missions. The plane is
currently being restored by the National Museum of the United States Air Force
in Dayton, Ohio.
